The Magnolia Tree
Summer is here
the Magnolia tree
as if unnoticed a lady
a tree—made up with red
seeds and cones
a Southern Belle
with sweet scented flowers in her
hair, soft as lips
that kiss the air
once a sapling in the
yard hard
to remember
stood as tall as me
sixty years of happiness
towering higher than
I can reach
as if love is an evergreen
that grows younger
each day.
And holds up the sky I walk.
