Dandelion

Dandelion

At home with her pride in the fresh spring grass
Lioness bares her jagged teeth in a sunlit grin
Quick to stare down the last of the winter cold
She is the hopeful Sun that welcomes longer days
And the delicate Moon that blooms through shorter nights
As clouds scud across the robin’s-egg sky
She rises like stardust into the wind
She cannot predict the path her life will take
But knows to trust her golden heart will beat
Among origami souvenirs of autumn lawns
As the resting garden awaits the return
Of her certain roar
