Frida's Accident
Where Cuahutemozin meets Calzada de Tlalpan
An electric streetcar and a city bus
Smash each other apart
Wailing plañideras in sackcloth widow weeds
Descend like mournful angels
Beating their chests
Somewhere in the black char
White flesh splays out
On a pool of red
Impaled and fractured
She waits for
Mary
Blessed Mother Our Lady of the Pillar
Who brings comfort and peace
And shimmers of gold
