A Race I Do Not Understand
And each step was laborious
My feet felt heavy as lead
My heart, like it would stop.
There were no cheers from the sidelines.
The world, it appeared, had turned away from me
On this race I did not understand.
But move I must,
Slowly, painfully,
Inch by inch,
Mile by mile.
Until,
I espied the finish line
Within my grasp.
