Birds Flutter in the Morning Light

Birds flutter in the morning light

The waking earth begins to stir
Tall trees above cast cooling shade
Daffodils wave bright yellow blooms
Fresh flower buds reach toward the air
Grass once thought dead now greens again
I wait upon the warming sun
To help the planted seeds erupt
Birds tend their nests and search for food
Their young devour all their worms
How wondrous is this world I see
And though I stand here feeling lone
I’m held within its quiet grace
