Can the Ocean Solve My Problems?
Possibly.
I look to her in moments of need,
and she answers.
I lower my toe
into her cool blue ink soul.
She returns me to myself in magnesium calm,
a quiet thalassotherapy,
a soft surrender.
I think of old Greece,
where in times of illness or affliction
you were sent to the sea
not as escape, but ritual
to bathe, to release, to renew
a kind of sacred forgetting.
I step closer.
Deeper.
Into the green hush of her surface world.
I sink deeper still
into the turning currents.
There is nothing to hear.
I rise again.
A gull crosses above me.
Foam curls against my skin.
The sun breaks through,
warmth already loosening what I carry.
The weight of daily living
drifts away
maybe gone, maybe just paused.
In this moment, at least,
and in the remembering later,
I know:
what I feel here
outweighs the noise beyond her reach.
And I will keep returning
to live within her tide,
more each day.
