Seven Semi-Precious Stones

Seven Semi-Precious Stones

Garnet sleeps on a park bench oblivious
hardscrabble living in the outback
girl discovers coal is the new black

Ruby hustles tacos in a burger bar
life is sand through an hour glass
stoned in the morning in the tall grass

Sapphire in the nude, lewd and lascivious
saving up her money for a pet rock
paydirt she deposits in a crock pot

Opal iridescent in an alleyway
hard rock victim of a cool cat
one too many love taps with a brickbat

Pearl handles lovers in a hard way
rides them hard, puts them away wet,
bedrock bottoms, the sweetest sweat

Amber takes a hit of crystal meth
stretched out upon a granite outcrop
moss gathers before the stones stop

Jade can’t ever seem to catch her breath
she hocks her rocks to bag a fix
everybody got to get their kix
