Barefoot Shoes
Barefoot biking in the rain.
October is too late for
barefoot biking---but I really saw it---
brown feet without
slippers or shoes biking outside town.
How many in the world walk barefoot.
Feeling only the clothes on their backs.
Carrying their children and some prized
or essential possessions.
War breathing down their neck.
Over here in safety we buy
barefoot shoes and think we
are going back to our roots.
Some would give their left or right foot
for the privilege to walk in our shoes.
