I feel abandoned by
Pete Alonso.
My favorite Met for
seven years, he left
for greater riches
in Baltimore.
It’s not really his fault
that he wanted more
money since that
appears to be the whole point
these days.
The Mets didn’t want
to meet his price. I am
angry at the Mets.
They had the money.
They just didn’t want to
spend it on Alonso.
Despite his prolific
number of home runs
and runs batted in.
I’m caught in the middle
like a kid in a divorce.
Mom didn’t want dad anymore
so he went off with another woman.
Come to think of it,
I was once a kid in a divorce
who sought solace in baseball.
