I'm Hanging On - Kid Me Not
Hold on tight.
You tell me to hold on tight.
Like I am a child in fright,
my hands knotted in front of you,
my head up against your back,
feel the pressure on your kidneys.
The organ of trust,
the deep seat of desire,
emotion, conscience, conscious.
Can you truly say I need
to hold on tight.
Can I test that out.
I will lie close
to the source of your life.
Deep pressure on your kidneys.
There is strength and
vulnerability there.
Hold on tight---you tell me.
That requires a level of trust
I do not know I have---
no more---
it feels you are biking
way off track
and I am hanging on,
hoping you do not
prove me wrong,
kid me not---
don’t do me wrong,
kid me not---
or I will kick you
one in the kidneys.
