Hardwood Floors and Fur
She takes a tentative step off the carpet then dances her retreat. Tries again—a little to the left. Sits down. Experience has taught her that furry paws and hardwood floors don’t mix. Dashing around corners involves drift. But she’s no driver. A simple scamper across the room transforms her into Thumper on ice. But she finds flailing no fun. Won’t risk slipping, flipping, flopping, swirling. And so she sits on the carpeted stair and cries until I come.
